442,115. Apparatus for delivering flat nexible articles. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 147, Queen Victoria Street, London.-(Assignees of Barnecott, C. F.; 430, Southern Boulevard, New York, U.S.A.) June 11, 1935, No. 16789. Convention date, June 29, 1934. [Class 100 (i)] Apparatus for delivering flat flexible articles such as papers from a machine comprises two sets of rollers 13, 14, Fig. 1, between which the papers pass, the rollers 37, Fig. 4, of one set being inclined to the rollers 38 of the other set so as to bend the papers and thus stiffen them to facilitate their delivery. The rollers 37, 38 are mounted on bent axles 39, 41 respectively, each formed in two parts joined centrally by a link 40, the axles 41 being carried at their ends by pivoted levers 42. Delivery belts 15, 16 passing around the rollers 37, 38 also serve to drive them from rollers 7, 8 geared to a roller 6 driven from the machine, belts 3, 4, 8 co-operating with the rollers 6 ... 8 to forward the papers to the belts 15, 16. Fixed guides 17 engaging grooves in the rollers 37 direct the papers on to a table comprising a slowly-moving, stacking conveyer 10, pivoted at the lefthand end, Fig. 1, about its driving shaft which is connected by chain-and-sprocket mechanism to the shaft of the roller 7. A roller 18 carried by a freely-mounted lever 45 bears centrally on the top edges of the papers to maintain them in bent condition until they are beyond the guides 17. The papers when deposited on the conveyer 10 may lie in overlapping formation on top of those already delivered instead of lying underneath the papers delivered as shown in Fig. 1.
