Abstract

441,899. Positive clutches. RHODES, C. J., Grove Iron Works, Wakefield, Yorkshire. Nov. 1, 1934, No. 31385. [Class 80 (ii)] In a rocking-key clutch, a pair of oppositelyacting segmental keys 10 are interconnected by toothed quadrants or pinions 15. One quadrant has an arm 16 urged by a spring 18 so that the clutch tends to engage, and the key to which that quadrant is secured has a projecting arm 20 co-operating with a movable abutment to produce clutch disengagement. The keys are carried in recesses in the driven shaft 1 and co-operate with recesses 14 in the hub of the driving wheel 6. The ends of the keys are journalled in sleeves 4, 5 secured to the shaft, the spring 18 being arranged in the sleeve 5.
