Abstract

441,649. Furnace walls. SCHIELDROP, B. H., 88, Cassiobury Drive, Watford, Hertfordshire. Nov. 3, 1934, No. 31615. [Class 51 (i)] A water-cooled furnace wall comprises parallel water tubes 1, firebricks 2 positioned between the tubes and so arranged in relation to each other as to form a series of dove-tailed recesses 3, 3a at each side of the tubes, and an inner layer of plastic refractory material 4 engaging in the recesses 3 on that side. The wall may be supported by means of plates 7 carried by buckstays 6, each plate having recesses 7a partly encircling the tubes and intermediate tongues projecting between the tubes and between the courses of the firebricks.
