Abstract

441,629. Vaporizers. ELLIS, G. B., 70, Chancery Lane, London.-(Soc. Generale Des Carburateurs Zenith; 10, Rue Petitot, Geneva, Switzerland) July 23, 1934, No. 21537. [Class 7 (iii)] Two or more parallel passages 3, 19 are provided for the combustible mixture, induced into the cylinders from a carburetter 17, a valve 21a being operated by suction to close ports 21, leading to the passage 19, when the main throttle valve 31 is substantially closed. The passage 3 has a common wall with the exhaust manifold 2, and is thus heated, whereas the passage 19 is comparatively cool. A sliding piston, forming the valve 21a, is rigidly connected. to a second piston 23, which acts as a dash-pot drawing air through an orifice 30, motion being opposed successively by springs 27, 28. The orifice 30 may be closed by a ball valve held seated by a bimetallic strip until a predetermined temperature is reached.
