Abstract
441,365. Junction boxes. BAILEY, W. S., 120, Alwiyeh, Baghdad. May 21, 1935, No. 14807. [Class 38 (i)] A terminal box for coupling a telephone cable to subscribers' lines &c. comprises a chamber containing terminals 6<1>, to which the cable conductors are connected, and hermetically sealed by a lid 12 which is secured by soldering or the like. The cable is sealed in a gland 4 by packing the space between the cable and the gland with asbestos and pouring in plumbers' solder. A nozzle 14 is provided whereby a dehydrating gas may be introduced and removed and is sealed by means of a screw 16 and a sealing disc 17 and cap 18. The terminals are mounted in an air-tight manner by means of shouldered sleeves of insulating material and the underside of the chamber may carry standard lightning arresters and fuses which are enclosed in a casing (not shown), closed by the plate 1 and mounted on a pole. The plate may be wider than the chamber and may have apertures through which the subscribers' lines are led.
