Abstract

<PICT:0440947/III/1> A gas-detecting device comprises a source of radiant energy which may be a flame lamp 4 or an electrically heated filament and which operates to burn combustible constituents in the atmosphere, a photo-electric cell 6, arranged to receive radiations from the said source, and an indicating means 7 connected in a suitable circuit with the cell. Means for varying the distance of the cell for the flame and means for protecting it from other radiation may be provided.
