440,716. Sharpening razors. FOSNAESS, A. G., Gulsrud, Vikersund, Norway. Aug. 23, 1935, No. 23693. Convention date, Aug. 23, 1934. [Class 60] Apparatus for sharpening razor blades comprises a cylinder 1 of glass, metal, &c. having one or more longitudinal slits 3 therein with sharpened sides, the cylinder being mounted in a holder 6 having an end 5 and an enlarged part 8. The end 5 carries a pin 9 on which is placed a hollow bearing 10 provided with radial arms 11, 12, which freely carry a shaft 14 provided with three projections 15 having heads 16 so as to engage the holes in a blade 17, and upon axial displacement of the shaft 14 to receive the blade beneath the heads 16. Upon rotation of the bearing 10 by means of a handle 13 on the arm 12, the blade is moved round in contact with the inside surface of the cylinder until, upon reaching the slit 3, the front edge is pressed out of the slit and the blade is reversed, so that, upon continued rotation of the bearing 10, the other side of the blade is treated. The shaft 14 may be pressed outwardly by springs &c. and a removable bearing for supporting the free end of the pin 9 may be provided.
