Abstract

440,174. Hulling, husking, and decorticating grain. SOC. ANON. DECORTICAGRANO, 20, Via Palepoli, Naples, Italy. March 17, 1934, No. 8447. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 18, 1934]. [Class 58] Grain, after washing, is passed into a shoot that directs it through the central opening 10 in a rotating disc 5 having a cork frame and provided on its lower surface with a disc of corrugated wire net 14 : this disc rotates above a similar disc 4 and blades 12 secured to a central shaft 6 force the grain between the discs. The grain is husked as it passes radially between the discs and then falls into a hopper 3 whence it passes to a second shoot and a second pair of abrading discs and thence to further pairs until it has been sufficiently treated. The hoppers 3 are provided with vanes 9 by which the bran is kept in suspension so that it can be removed by a suction fan. The grain, when sufficiently treated, falls on an iron plate and is then moved by brushes into collecting channels.
