Abstract
440,072. Frictional pocket igniters. WISE, F. C., and GREENWOOD, W., 5, Johnson Street, Notting Hill Gate, London. Feb. 20, 1935, Nos. 5462 and 9865. [Class 75 (iii)] The flint tube 12 is closed by a slide 14 fitted in a wall of the casing 1. The flint spring 11 is fitted. with a plunger 15 having a flange 17, which prevents the plunger coming into contact with the friction-wheel 4 and is adapted to engage a screw 18 to prevent the spring being shot out of the tube when the slide is opened, an inclined notch 19 being provided to allow for withdrawal of the spring. A flanged head 16, secured to the other end of the spring, prevents the latter from being inserted the wrong way into the tube and is formed with a reduced extension 21 to facilitate closing the slide. The slide may close also a tube 23 for spare flints and is provided with a groove engaging a screw 22 for preventing it from being completely withdrawn from the casing. The friction-wheel 4 is operated by means of a milled wheel 5 projecting through a slot in the casing, which is closed by a spring- controlled lid 7 having a side piece 6 corresponding to a cut away portion of the casing adjacent the wick holder 2. The lid carries a spring-pressed wick-cap 9.
