[Class 132 (iii)] A spinning colour-changing toy comprises two semi-spheroidal sheet metal shells 1 riveted to a shaft 2 and having attached to them at 4 two spaced metal discs forming a winding drum 3 for a cord 10 the end of whch is attached to the drum 3. Two multicoloured semi-spheroidal elements 6 are loosely mounted on the shaft 2 and have annular bosses 7, frictionally engaging the shells 1 under the influence of a spring 9 coiled about the shaft 2 and pressing on hub pieces 8 on the shaft 2 and pressing against the insides of the elements 6. When the device 1, 3 starts to rewind itself on the cord 10 relative motion takes place between the shells 1 and the elements 6 for a changing colour effect of the elements 6 to be observed through equally spaced openings 5 in the shells 1. In the construction shown in Fig. 3 a separate winding drum 3b is secured to the shaft 2, two springs g<a> are provided and the colour elements 6 are punched in as indicated at 8<a>. A yoke 12 free on the shaft 2 embraces the drum 3<b> and carries a guide 13 for the cord 10 on which is slidable an impeller element 14 actuated by lazy-tongs 15. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the impeller element has the form of a tube 14a having an enlarged portion to be grasped by hand.
