Abstract

440,005. Cartridge belts for machine guns. METALLURGICA BRESCIANA GIA TEMPINI, Brescia, Italy. Feb. 18, 1935, No. 5195. Convention date, Feb. 19, 1934. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to disintegrating metal-link belts, the elements of which comprise two open cartridge housings 2, 3 on one side joined by a bridge-piece 4 to a single open housing 6 on the other side, the elements being united by the cartridges which form the hinge pins. The invention consists in providing a bridge-piece of arcuate formation which is extended to form an edge x and an arcuate housing 6 which fits the arcuate bridge of an adjacent element. The bridge-piece has a stamped-out recess 5, Fig. 6, to accommodate the housing 6, and the cartridges are raised from the housings by a wedge 10 on the gun acting between the cartridge and a projection 9 on the link. The housing 3 is provided with projections 7 engaging the extraction groove of the cartridge. In a modification, Fig. 8, pressed-up tongues 12 are provided to hold the links assembled during normal working of the gun whilst permitting of disassembly by relative rotation of the elements.
