Abstract

421,887. Cartridge belts for machine guns; metal articles. MOORE, W. T., Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. May 25, 1933, No. 15195. [Class 92 (ii)] [See also Group XXII] Metal-link disintegrating belts of the kind in which the cartridges themselves form the hinge pins, have each link formed by slotting a rectangular blank, Fig. 4, to provide a central strip 8 and marginal strips 9, 10 parallel thereto, the central strip being rolled in one direction and the marginal strips in the opposite direction to provide three open loops to receive the cartridges x when the links are assembled as shown in Fig. 1. The strip 10, which is preferably wider than the strip 9, has a projection 11 formed with a detent 12 to snap into the extraction groove of the cartridge. The loops 8 loosely engage the cartridges to give flexibility to the belt.
