To all wim/a t may concern:
Bc it known that I, AMI CoRNU, manufacturer, citizen of Switzerland, residing at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Canton ot' Neuchtel, in the Confederation of Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clasps', of which the following is a specification. i
The object of the invention is the provision of a clasp particularly adapted for use in bracelets` provided with a thong of leather' or textile fabric, and which may be employed for necklaces, waist bands, garters, braces and the like.
This clasp comprises two parts, one of which is a stud member provided with at least one button, and the other a socket member fitted with a spring adapted to snap into the said button or buttons in order to unite the two parts of the clasp.

In Fig. 1, a is a plate with slots 7) and c and openings l and e. The edges, b1 and c1 of the material from which the slots t) and c are made are bent back as shown in Figs. l and 3 and form a receptacle for a double spring f (Fig. 2) which is held in place by plates g and L also held between the bent over edges el, b1. The spring, however, is ree to move in the said receptacle and is shaped so as to extend partially over the Specification of Letters Patent.

This spring have various forms. The clasp may also have but one button or more than two. In the latter case the clasp is provided with several springs.
In the arrangement shown in Figs. 12, 13 and 14, the space formed by the bent up edges within the openings Z) and c is fitted with two plates g4, h1 between which two straight springs f1 and f2 are held Jfast and at a suitable distance, so as to engage the buttons z' and 7c as shown in Figs. 12 and 14.
According to the working Jform, as represented in Figs. 15 and 16, the clasp comprises a plate a, provided with theslots Z), c, Z and e and a plate Z, carrying the buttons z' and c. The parts f and o of a spring are clamped fast at their central portion between the stay left between the openings b, 0 of the plate a and the bent up edges b1, c1, the arms of said springs being left tree with a tendency to close together as shown in Fig. 15. It the buttons i., l: are pressed into the openings (Z, e they will separate said arms which will then be engaged within the necks of said buttons as may be seen in Fig. 16.
I claim as my invention:
1. ln a clasp, a member having a stud proliecting therefrom, a socket member comprising a body portion having substantially parallel ribs forming a receptacle, a spring member in said receptacle, and a plate fixed in the said receptacle and having an opening therein with a portion thereof spanned by the said spring, there being an opening in the said body portion registering with the opening in the plate through which the said stud is adapted to pass and to be engaged by the spring to maintain the parts in an assembled relationship.
2. In a clasp, a member having a stud proj ecting therefrom, a socket member comprising a body portion having substantially parallel ribs stamped up from portions thereof to provide recesses therein and a receptacle between the ribs and the adjacent portions of the socket member, a spring in said receptacle, and a plate fixed in the said receptacle and having an opening therein withl a portion thereof spanned by the said spring, there being an opening in the said body por-Y tion registering with the opening in the plate through which the said stud is adapted tov pass and to, be engaged by the springto maintain the parts in an assembled relationship.
3. In a clasp, a member having a stud projecting therefrom, a socket member com-` prising a body portion having substantially parallel ribs.v stamped np from portions thereof to provide recesses therein and a ref ceptacle between the ribs and the adjacent portions of the socket member, a spring in said receptacle, a plate having a recess in one edge thereof, With the spring bearing against the recessed edge of the plate, there being an opening in the said body portion or the socket member. registering with the re-l cess in the plate and` through which the said stud is adapted to pass and to be engaged by thespring to maintain the parts in an assembled relationship.

In a clasp, a member having a pair of studs projecting therefrom in spaced positions, a socket member comprising a body portion having substantiallv paralleli-ibs in spaced postiQIlS Silllped np from portions of the socket member and providing receptacles between the said ribs and the adjacent parts Vof the socket member', an Sshaped spring in the said receptacles, and a pair of plates placed in the said receptacles and each having a recess in an inner edge thereof, with one end of the said spring bearing against the edge of each plate and extending across the recess therein, there being openings inthe socket member corresponding to the recesses in the said plates through which the said studs are adapted to pass and to be engaged by the ends of the springs to. maintain the parts in their associated relationship.
