Abstract

752,366. Bracelets. KIEFER, E. March 2, 1954 [May 11, 1953], No. 6049/54. Class 43. [Also in Group XXII] An expansible link bracelet comprises a series of alternating outer frame links 3 and inner links 2, each frame link 3 having a pair of parallel outer arms, each provided with at least one longitudinal rib 7 to form a guide for relative sliding movement of the inner link 2 which has a snap-hook construction 5 whereby it is extractably engaged over the transverse end bar 4 of the frame link 3, the link 2 being of composite construction and consisting of an outer light metal cover 8 and a springy sheet metal lining 9 whereby the snap-hook entrance 5 is normally held closed. Compression springs are arranged within the link 2 in the usual manner, between the coupling bar 4 of the frame 3 and an end of the link 2, to resist expansion of the bracelet. Figs. 4 and 6 show two blanks 12, 14 of light metal and springy sheet metal respectively which are superposed and interengaged to form the link 2. The right-hand ends of the two blanks are formed with similar tab-like projections 16, 17, guide-receiving recesses 15 are provided in their longitudinal edges, and the left-hand end of blank 12 has a recess 18 of a width sufficient to provide passage for the projections 16, 17. The blank 14, which is somewhat longer than the blank 12, has a rectangular aperture 19 near its lefthand end, so that when this blank is superposed upon the blank 12 with the projections 16, 17 coincident, the end portion 20 of blank 14 can be folded around the corresponding end of the blank 12, with the result that the recess 18 and aperture 19 form a pocket which receives the end projections 16, 17 when the blanks are folded to the form shown in Fig. 2. The end portion 20 of blank 14 overlaps the projections 16, 17 and conceals the recess 18 and aperture 19.
