Abstract

378,274. Pinless hinges. KAP SOC. ANON., 6, Rue Jean JaurÞs, Puteaux, Seine, France. Nov. 6, 1931, No. 30823. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1930. [Class 65 (ii).] A hinge for connecting a movable panel 2 to a fixed frame 1 comprises a trough-shaped strip of metal 3 fixed to the panel, convex upwards, and a member 4 fixed to the frame and having a groove in which the strip 3 can engage on both faces. The member 4 may be formed of a strip bent to spiral form as shown, in which case its two surfaces may be in the form of similar archimedian spirals at 180‹ to one another, the median surface of the member 3 being a similar spiral at 90‹ to the others. Alternatively, the inner surface of the member 3 may engage a part of the member 4 bent back upon itself or a cylinder into which the strip 4 merges. The fit of the two members need not be exact, and the parts of the member 4, when formed of a strip, may be springy to compensate for bad fitting. The hinge members are easily separated by opening the hinge.
