[Class 35] A split-phase motor has two windings 3, 4 only, arranged permanently in series, the winding 4 being permanently in parallel with a phase-splitting capacity 7, so that neither winding is subjected to the full supply voltage. The voltage drops across the two windings are approximately equal.
