[Class 64 (iii)] In a surface feedwater preheater the water tubes 10, which are secured at one end to a tube plate 4 held by the heater casing 1, are secured at the other end to a freely mounted diametrically divided tube plate carrying separate header chambers 14, 15. The headers are partitioned to direct the water through the tubes four times in both directions. The casing is not divided by baffles for the steam flow, and the tubes and the headers 14, 15 may be removed bodily through one end of casing. The partitions in the headers do not contact with the tube plates. Specification 240,335, [Class 64 (iii)], is referred to.
