436,294. Valve components. ETABLISSEMENTS JACOB - DELAFON COMPAGNIE CERAMIQUE DE POUILLY-SURSAONE ET BELVOYE, 14, Quai de la RÔpÚe, Paris. April 5, 1934, Nos. 10380 and 10381. Convention dates, March 16 and March 21. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 8, 1934.] [Class 135] In a metal valve-seating for the wasteducts of sanitary apparatus, a packing of malleable and compressible material such as lead 145, Fig. 2, is inserted between the seating 3 and the bottom of a recess 143 provided at the top of the duct ; the packing is then pressed between the seating and said bottom and any projection therefrom into the duct is removed to leave a smooth passage. The mounting may be effected by means of a block 252, Fig. 6, sliding upon a rod 250 screwed at each end to accommodate a nut 255 and a block 251 fitting upon the lower edge of the waste-pipe. The block 252 is shaped to fit into the seating 3 and when the nut is screwed down, the packing which may comprise a U-shaped metal ring 144 is compressed to allow the parts to assume the desired positions. Screws 140, Fig. 2 or pins are passed through apertures in the wall of the duct into the seating and the internal spaces 142 are filled with cement, sulphur, &c. In other forms, the ring 3 has external grooves, and the wall and packing may be similarly provided, preferably by means of screw threads.
