[Class 138 (i)] [See also Group VI] A plate and like draining-rack comprises a pair of pivoted X-members A, B, spaced by a square sectioned bar O having round ends which form pivot bearings for the X- members. An upper rack comprising longitudinal members D, G and transverse square sectioned bars F, is pivoted at the side D to the upper ends of the members A. The side G rests upon a flat bar P joining the members B and is secured thereto by metal clips R which engage under the bar P. When so secured, the upper rack can hold the largest plates, but to hold plates of smaller size, the X-members A, B are moved towards one another until the bar P engages in rectangular recesses S in the two end bars F, the plates then resting as before, against the longitudinal members P, D. The lower rack comprises longitudinal members J, H, connected at each end by deep rectangular section bars T, and by transverse square bars between and parallel to the bars T. The rack is supported by a swinging metal bar W secured to each bar T, and by a recess V in each bar T engaging the bar O. An inclined stay Y stiffens the rack. The upper and lower racks may be used in approximate alignment, as shown in Fig. 4, in which position a bar L prevents the members A, B from opening out completely. Both racks have raised parts at the edges to accommodate cups, cream jugs and the like, when the racks are in the superposed position, and, of these raised parts, the parts G, H are interlocked in the Fig. 4 position. When in this position, hot water may be directed on to the plates from a rubber tube. When not in use, the rack is folded flat.
