[Class 131] [See also Groups VI and XXVI] In air douches, particularly those employed for hair-drying, the fan 7, enclosed in a casing 1 and driven by an electric motor 2, has a central portion comprising a cylinder 8 with longitudinal perforations and internal vanes which draw air into the cylinder and force it outwards to the rear of the fan blades. The cylinder 8 is preferably closed, either at the rear or the front end, by a plate 12 to which the motor driving shaft may be secured. As applied to hair-drying apparatus the air is drawn in through holes 6 in the motor casing, preferably arranged to cool the motor, over an electric heater 4, and is forced through holes 5 in the hood, which holes may be protected by gratings; from the hood the air passes through a grating 13 in a cylindrical extension arranged opposite the cylinder 8 and is again delivered to the fan 7. When the plate 12 is at the front of the cylinder no recirculation takes place.
