Abstract

435,761. Scaffolding. SNOW, F. S., 6, The Knoll, Beckenham, Kent, and SHEPHEARD, H., 14, Meadow Road, South Lambeth, London. March 21, 1934, No. 8904. [Class 20 (ii)] Metal scaffolding of the type comprising interconnected verticals, horizontals, and diagonals forming a rigid structure has joints and clips sc arranged that the members may be joined at various angles with each other. The vertical members 2 have secured tc them perforated semicircular plates 3 by means of bolts 5 passing through the dia metral side of the plate to enter apertures 23 in the uprights. The horizontal mem bers 1 are pro vided with projec tions 22 adapted to register with any of the holes in the plates, the projections being so disposed with respect to the ends of the horizontal members that these have bearing on the plates on opposite sides of the holes. The holes may not be circular and may not pass completely through the plate and may be tapered from the upper surface inwardly. For securing the diagonal members 7, two partclamps 8, 9, Fig. 4, are used, one part 8 being in strip form of flanged U-shape and the other part 9 of circular form provided with a diametral raised portion 10 and with holes 12 to receive a clamping bolt whereby the parts may be secured together in different relative positions. In a modification, both parts of the clamp may be of flanged U -shape and one is provided with a perforated arcuate portion to provide for adjustability.
