Abstract
435,441. Electric signalling systems. EVER SHED & VIGNOLES, Ltd., and NEEDHAM, J. C., Acton Lane Works, Chiswick, London. June 13, 1934, No. 11784/35. Divided out of 435,426, [Group XVIII]. [Class 40 (i)] In a system for indicating the level of liquid wherein a plumbbob is maintained automatically at substantially the level of the liquid in order to effect an indication of the level, the plumb-bob comprises two electrodes one of which is fixed in the liquid and the other is movable relatively to the liquid level so as to maintain the resistance of the control circuit constant. The system is similar to that described in Specification 409,102 wherein indicating and recording apparatus 1, 5 is operated by a motor y under the control of a relay s having two windings g, l energized from an alternating current source o, the winding l being connected in series with copper electrodes c, d immersed in the liquid b. The electrode d forming the plumb-bob is arranged to slide centrally within the electrode c by the provision of three insulating spacers e and is operated by a cable f passing over a drum g which is operated by the motor y. When the level changes, the resistance in the relay circuit is varied, and the relay operates the motor in one or other direction so as to adjust the plumb-bob d and thereby re-establish normal resistance conditions in the relay circuit.
