Abstract
337,981. Preston, Stallard, & Co., Ltd., and Malsbury, J. Nov. 8, 1929. Heating by electricity.-In an apparatus of the kind described in Specification 306,771, [Class 91, Oils &c.], for purifying oils in which water or other liquid is circulated through the oil by convection current set up by a heater and circulator, a delay-action switch is provided to control the energization of the heater, whereby at a predetermined and variable interval the heater is cut out. An electrical heater 15, Fig. 1, is connected to a switch 16, which comprises a clockwork mechanism 25, Fig. 2, having a trip mechanism 24 attached to a tube 20. The tube 20 has two electrodes 22, 23 connected to the terminals of the switch 16, and is partly filled with mercury. In operation, the clockwork is wound to the desired amount, and when run down the trip 24 tilts the tube 20, and breaks the contact between the electrodes 22 and 23.
