Abstract

417,463. Electric signalling systems. ROCHE, W. G., LITTLEWOOD, E. L., and KER, H. H., 14, Dale Street, and REMING- TON, C., 240, Queens Drive, both in Liverpool. April 5, 1933, No. 10141. [Class 40 (i).] In a system for signalling the operation of any one of a plurality of switches, e.g. fire alarm switches, connected across a pair of live wires, the switches are associated with resistances 7, 8, 9 ... of different value so that upon operation of a switch, a voltmeter 1 is operated into a position characteristic of the operated switch. The needle 10 of the voltmeter moves over a plurality of contacts 11 and completes, by means of a spark discharge between the needle and the appropriate contact 10, the circuit of a selector lamp in the group of neon lamps 12. The lamp circuit is supplied from the secondary of an induction coil 14 the primary of which is controlled by a relay 16 in the signalling circuit. The relay 16 also controls an auxiliary signal bell 17. In a modification the signalling switches are normally closed and the line wires are connected in a Wheatstone bridge circuit to which current is supplied periodically under the control of a clock.
