Abstract
364,358. Road signals. CHANCE BROS. & CO., Ltd. and SPAINK, J. H. ABBINK-, Lighthouse Works, West Smethwick, Staffordshire. Jan. 21, 1931, Nos. 2004 and 2005. [Class 118 (ii).] An amber coloured or other warning light is brought into action at some predet rmined time such as in the night or when a failure occurs in he main signal system to show that the signal is not working. The current is supplied to the signal system by leads a, b from terminals d, e to which are adjacent fuses f, g. Conductors h supply current to the various parts of the signal apparatus. The warning lights i are in a circuit i containing fuses k, l and connected to the terminals d, e or between these and the fuses f, g. The circuit contains a switch m normally held open by an electromagnet n connected across the main. leads on the signal system side of the fuses f, g. On one of the fuses f, g blowing the elec romagnet n is no longer excited and the lamps i come on. In addition or alternatively the leads a, bare provided with switches o, p or with one only. On the terminal side of the fuses f, g is a circuit containing an electromagnet r and a contact device s controlled by a clock which opens and closes the contact s at certain times. A switch t in parallel with the switch m is actuated by the electromagnet r. When the contact s is closed, the electromagnet r opens the switches o, p putting the signals out of action and closes the switch t to bring the warning light i'into action. On opening the contact device s, the switches o, p are closed and the switch t opened.
