Abstract
402,511. Flashlight photography. BLAKEMORE, H. G. G., and BENNETT, R., 36, Victoria Street, London. June 28, 1933, No. 18254/32. [Class 98 (i).] An electrical system for producing a flash for use in flashlight photography comprises a solenoid adapted to operate the camera shutter, a flashlight bulb in series with the solenoid and a fusible wire or an electromagnetic device in parallel with the bulb so as to break the circuit immediately the flash has occurred. In the form shown the circuit from a source of supply 7, 8 is completed by the closing of the switch 10, thereby energizing the solenoid 3 to operate the camera shutter 1 and producing a flash in the bulb 9. Passage of the current also breaks the circuit through the fuse 5 in parallel with the bulb. The solenoid may operate the shutter through indirect means such as a system of levers, or a bulb and a dashpot may be provided to maintain the shutter open for a predetermined period after the fuse has broken the circuit.
