Abstract
435,427. Lawn trimmers. ROBERTSON, J. W., 51, Cornwall Road, Cheam, Surrey. June 15, 1934, No. 17775. [Class 6 (ii)] A device for trimming the edges of lawns &c. of the kind in which a roller moved relatively to the lawn surface operates shears to cut the edge, comprises a pair of relatively movable cutting blades 10 pivoted at 11 and operated by links 13 connected to a rod 15 which is connected in turn to a crank 16 or equivalent means driven from the roller 1 through gearing 20, 21. The roller is mounted in a frame 4 to which is attached a handle 9. The extensions 12 of the blades, to which the links 13 are connected, are inclined relatively to the plane of the blades and the rod 15 is guided by a member 17 on the frame 4. The roller may have a ribbed surface and may be slightly tapered to operate on a bevelled edge. An extension 22 is provided on the frame 4 to raise the grass into contact with the shears.
