Abstract

435,273. Inflating-valves. WARNE & CO., Ltd., W., India Rubber Mills, Barking, and YATES, H., 46, Brixham Gardens, Longbridge Road, Ilford, both in Essex. March 19,1934, No. 8637. [Class 135] An inflating - valve for play balls, cushions, &c., of the kind comprising a stem of rubber having a slit of smaller width than the diameter of the stem is moulded in one piece and vulcanized in the mould, the slit 4 being formed by a fine knife cut whilst the valve is still in the mould. In the form shown the slit 8 leads to a cylindrical chamber 7 which leads in turn to a spherical chamber 6 adapted to receive a bulbous enlargement on the inflating connection. A flange 4 is provided for securing the valve to the bladder and an outer flange 2 is adapted to be passed through the apertures in the usual tongue below the lacing aperture. An elastic band 9 held in place by a bead 3 encircles the part of the stem adjacent the slit. In a modification, the spherical chamber is formed above the outer flange and a further modification dispenses with the outer flange.
