Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 14, 1934]. [Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XL] In the method of starting a gas or vapour filled electric discharge device wherein the circuit through an inductance is interrupted to obtain a high-voltage discharge, the switch used for interrupting the circuit comprises an exhausted sealed envelope having two fixed contacts adapted to be bridged by a magnetic member. The contacts of the switch consist of plates 13 extending the width of the vessel and connected to leading-in wires 12 which pass through loosely mounted porcelain discs 14. The bridge 16 consists of a tungsten helix within which an iron rod is loosely mounted.
