Abstract
435,040. Aircraft gun mountings. PILAIN, R., 20, Rue Terme, Lyons, France. March 12, 1934, No. 7779. Convention date, March 10, 1933. [Class 92 (i)] Spring means 10, Fig. 2, for compensating for the action of wind pressure and gravity on aircraft gun mountings of the " ring " type is so connected to the rotary ring 2 and the U-shaped gun-elevating arm 4 that azimuthal movements of the ring vary the tension of the spring for elevational compensation whilst elevational movements of the arm vary the spring effect to suit the position of the ring in training. In the form shown, the spring casing is pivoted at one end 11<a> to the arm 4 and at the other end is pivoted at 12 to an arm 13 hinged to the ring at 14. The pivot 12 is connected by a cable 15, quadrants 16, 16<a>, and cable 17 to a crank 27 geared to the gun turret so as to move synchronously therewith in the known manner shown in Fig. 3. The gear arrangement, which moves with ring 2, is duplicated to control a similar arm 13 and spring 10 arranged on the other limb of the U-shaped arm 4. A light spring 29 keeps the cables taut and a sliding gear 23 serves to declutch the cranks 27 from the driving rack 22 on the fixed ring 1. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a compensating spring in the form of a rod subjected to torsion which forms the subject-matter of Specification 435,078. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
