Abstract

An electric conductor has an insulation consisting of a mixture of unvulcanized rubber and waxes falling into the following classes: montan waxes freed from resin and bleached and hardened by oxidation, chlorinated naphthalene and wax obtained from the higher alcohols of the fat series, wax acid and vegetable oils hardened by hydrogenation. The proportions are preferably 60 rubber and 40 wax. The rubber may be natural (preferably protein-free), depolymerized, hydrogenated or synthetic. Balata and guttapercha may be added, as may other waxes such as carnauba, ceresin and "Superla" (Registered Trade Mark).
