Abstract
433,866. Sextant-type instruments. OWEN, H. E. L., 73, Perham Road, West Kensington, London. Feb. 19, 1934, No. 5437. [Class 97 (ii)] A surveying-instrument of the sextant type is adapted for attachment by axial movement to and coaxially upon the cylindrical holder of the object glass cell of a telescope, monocular or binocular viewing instrument. The cylindrical box 4, Figs. 2 and 3 of the sextant is fitted to a tubular carrier 7 arranged in line with viewing apertures and the horizon glass 1, the silvered portion of which occupies a small portion of the whole field of the telescope &c. The tube 7 is attached to the cylindrical holder of the object glass cell as by screwing or bayonet joint. The index glass is adjusted by worm gear from a milled head 17. In a modified construction the plate 3 supporting the horizon and index glasses is attached over an aperture in a length of tube 7<x>, Figs. 7 and 8, forming the carrier for attachment to the telescope &c., a lateral extension 7b being formed on the tube to accommodate the index glass.
