433,466. Windscreen-cleaners. LUCAS, Ltd., J., WHITEHOUSE, H. E., MASON, S. A., and EDWARDS, J. C., Great King Street, Birmingham. Feb. 15, 1934, No. 5024. [Class 138 (i)] A windscreen-cleaner for motor vehicles comprises two oscillatory wiper arms adapted to be given opposite oscillatory movements, the arrangement being such that at one end of each oscillation the two elements lie adjacent to each other by reason of each element occupying a position at an angle to its associated arm. As shown, wiper elements d are attached to arms a carried by pivots b, each provided with a lever g. One of the levers extends upwardly from the pivot and the other downwardly, and both levers are connected by a rod f. The arms are actuated by a bar h pivoted at one end to the point of junction of the rod f with one of the levers g, and at its other end to a crank driven from an electric motor k. In a modification the wiper elements d are pivoted on the arms a so that when they approach each other their outer ends come into contact and swing the elements round against the action of springs until they lie parallel with each other.
