[Class 130] An ash tray or receptacle com - prises a box-like body 10 of polygonal form in plan having a detachable lid 14 which is supported therein by resting at its edges upon the bevelled upper ends of the box walls, which form an upstanding rim 16, 17, the lid being formed with a mesh having large apertures 20, preferably surrounded by a relatively wide border. The bars 21 between the apertures may be of inverted-V-shape. Cigar or cigarette rests 24, 26 are shown in the rim, the lid also having depressions 28 in line with the rests 24. A false bottom is preferably suspended from the lid, leaving a space between it and the bottom of the box, which may contain a pack of playing cards. Circular tapered holes may be provided in the border of the lid, and may serve for extinguishing purposes. Internal projections may be provided in some of the apertures. In a modification, the lid is of V-form, and rests only on the two ends of the body 10. The meshwork in the lid may be formed of cross-wires or of bars of circular cross section.
