428,262. Smokers' ash-trays. POWER, R. F., 18, Chesterford Gardens, Hampstead, London. Nov, 9, 1933, No. 23487/34. Divided out of 422,133. [Class 130] A cigarette rest is formed by a number of knife-edged or curved members 7 extending radially from a centre, each providing a small surface or line contact with a cigarette placed across them. The supporting members 5 are inclined downwardly from the centre and have projections 8 at their outer ends to prevent the cigarettes from rolling off. In the construction shown, the members 7 radiate from a knob 5 carried by an ash-tray having an apertured bottom 4 which is rotatable over a partitioned container 1 so that, when a lighted cigarette has been dropped into one compartment, the tray may be rotated to close that compartment and open the adjacent one. In a modified construction the knife-edged supports are inclined upwardly from a central boss which may be ribbed to provide it with knifeedges against which the cigarette may lie between adjacent supports.
