Abstract
510,805. Smokers ash-trays. WADE, W. L. Feb. 9, 1938, No. 3985. [Class 130] A circular ash-tray has concentric outer and inner walls 4, 5, with an intervening U-shaped channel 2, so that a cigarette a may be rested on the walls and will fall into the position c in the channel on burning down ; the outer wall 4 is formed to preclude a cigarette being balanced on its edge or rested at the outside of the tray, while the inner wall 5 is shaped to allow a cigarette to be balanced thereon with its inner end inclined downwards into a central recess 3. As shown, the upper surface of the wall 5 is conical and slopes in line with the top of the wall 4. The wall 5 is formed with flutings 7 to support cigarettes and with recesses 6 with closed inner ends for extinguishing cigarettes. A match-box stand, petrol lighter or other fitting may be carried by a standard at the centre of the recess 3.
