Abstract

433,160. Furnace-door frames. SCHIELDROP, B. H., 88, Cassiobury Drive, Watford, Hertfordshire. March 13, 1934, No. 7920. [Class 51 (ii)] A water-cooled door frame comprises an upper box section 1<a> bevelled at its lower corners 1<e>, and having its lower wall 1<d> inclined downwards from back to front, and leg sections 2, 2<a> shaped at their upper faces to fit the corresponding parts of the upper section. All the sections have projecting portions 1<b>, 5, 5<a> at their edges to provide a face recess in which the door or damper 4 slides. In assembling the structure the upper section is first positioned by means of an angle bar 1<g> attached to its upper edge, and the leg sections are raised on blocks 10 to contact with the lower face of the section 1<a>. The leg sections are then secured against movement by clamps 11, which are bolted to the buckstays and engage angle pieces 8 welded to the sections, while forward movement of the upper section is prevented by removable stops 12.
