Abstract
432,850. Explosives ; blasting - cartridges. SOC. ANON. D'ARENDONCK, Arendonck, Belgium. Jan. 21, 1935, Nos. 1934 and 1935. Convention dates, Jan. 24, 1933 and Dec. 21, 1934. [Classes 9 (i) and 9 (ii)] Potassic feldspar is used to prevent ignition of inflammable gases or materials in blasting. It is preferably mixed with a potassium salt or known ingredients such as calcium fluoride, sodium chloride, or calcium carbonate. A binder may also be added such as plaster of Paris, clay, or Portland cement. One example contains orthoclase feldspar 55 per cent by weight, potassium sulphate 35 per cent, and plaster of Paris or clay 10 per cent. It is preferred to make the composition into a sleeve surrounding the explosive ; but the composition may be incorporated, for example to the extent of 30 per cent, in the explosive which may be a mixture of nitroglycerine 11 parts, dinitrotoluene 1 part, sodium chloride 22 parts, ammonium nitrate 59 parts, cellulose 6À85 parts, and lamp black 0À15 parts.
