[Class 132 (i)] The bearing surfaces of a boot and the sole and heel plates of a skate therefor are made rectilineal in the transverse direction, and means are provided for transversely and longitudinally adjusting the skate relative to the boot and for fixing the boot in adjusted position. As shown, a boot f, Fig. 2, is provided with inserts g<1> to render the sole g, rectilineal transversely. The sole and heel plates h of the skate are temporarily secured to the boot by two eccentrics i mounted on screwed sleeves rigid with the boot sole and heel respectively, the eccentrics engaging in slots k in the plates h which are held between the boot and flanges m on the eccentrics by tightening bolts o screwing into the sleeves l. Projections r on the flanges m facilitate adjusting of the eccentrics by means of a key n, Fig. 5. When the skate has been satisfactorily adjusted relative to the boot it is permanently secured thereto by screws s or rivets in known manner, and the eccentrics i and bolts o may be removed or retained as additional securing means. Modifications. The inserts g<1>, Fig. 2, may be positioned between a transversely curved boot sole and the plate h. The projections r may be replaced by recesses to be engaged by projections on the key n during adjustment. The eccentrics may, alternatively, be fitted to the skate and the coacting guide slots, formed in the boot or an interposed member.
