969,603. Insoles. E. F. HALLIWELL. Oct. 5, 1960 [Oct. 5, 1959], No. 33666/59. Heading A3B. An insole consists of two parts: a forepart 10 and a shank and heel part 12, which do not overlap, the two meeting on a line 11 across the sole where the forepart merges into the shank or waist and being secured together by adhesive paper 17, 18 or the like applied at the joint. The rear part is preferably common to several fittings in one size, the forepart being different for each fitting A. B. C. D, say, and each size. The heel portion may be moulded from plastic and may have feathered edges and a chamfered heel, and its thickness may vary, being thickest between the waist and the heel for example. The two portions may abut or be bevelled, and may also be dovetailed or notched to fit one another exactly. The edges of the rear portion may have notches extending into transverse recesses 24 to receive the ends of heel straps 25.
