Abstract

244,383. Skorka, M. Sept. 30, 1925. Skates. - In a skate having a plurality of rollers 11 arranged in a single line, the roller bearings are mounted on two flat springs which are attached to the skate frame 3 at points 4 between the bearings. The springs each consist of one or more longitudinal members 5 and are secured to projections 4 on the frame by screws 6 slots being provided for all but one of the screws. Short springs 13, 14 may be added, as shown in Fig 6, the ends of these springs serving to secure the screws 6 and also the screws 9 which retain the bearings 8. To prevent lateral displacement, the edges of the springs 5, 13, 14 are upturned, as shown in Fig. 6. A pad 12 of leather &c. secured to the skate frame or the boot at the toe or heel or both acts as a brake when weight is applied to the front or rear rollers, which are comparatively unsupported. The spring supports 5 allow the weight on the skate to, be taken by groups of two or three rollers. Flanges 2 enable the skate to be screwed to the boot.
