Abstract
432,251. Skates. TAPPE, F. G., 12, Karl XII's Gate, Oslo, Norway. Dec. 24, 1934, No. 37000. Convention date, Oct. 5. [Class 132 (i)] A roller or ice skate is detachably attached to a boot by means of toe lugs on the usual foot plate, and by spring ears, resiliently mounted for limited swinging movement about a horizontal transverse axis through the middle of the foot plate, adapted to engage the boot heel. As shown, the skate 1 has a footplate 2, fitted with transversely adjustable toe lugs 4, 5, for gripping the boot sole 8, and a spring plate 9, longitudinally adjustably secured to the footplate at 21, has spring ears 10, 11, for resiliently engaging a recess 4<1> in the boot heel. The heel may therefore rock about the point 21, the movement being limited by tongues 14, 15 on the plate 9 engaging underneath the sole plate. The skate may be removed from the foot by inserting a lever between the extension 24 of plate 9 and the heel. Alternatively, the plate 9 may be of rigid material and spring biassed to rest normally against the footplate. The mechanism 21 for detachably locking the plates 2, 9, is identical with that described in Specification 406,543, but, alternatively, the plates 2 and 9, Fig. 3, may be connected through a spring 22 which is compressed when a boot is inserted between the lugs and ears.
