Abstract

735,491. Ice skates. SORBY & SONS, Ltd., R. Sept. 28, 1954 [June 30, 1953], No. 18057/53. Class 132(1). A detachable ice skate blade 10 has three projections 11, 12 and 13 on its upper edge fitting into slotted lugs 14, 15 and 16 respectively depending from a sole plate 17 and a heel plate 18, the projection 13 having an open-ended lengthwise slot 20 to engage a bolt 22 extending through lug 16 and one of the other projections having a hole or lengthwise slot to register with holes in a sole plate to receive a bolt. As shown, the projection 11 has a slot 19 to engage a bolt 21 passing through lug 14 and the blade is secured in place by a bolt 24 passing through holes in the lug 15 and projection 12. In modification, Fig. 5, the projection 11 is replaced by a projection 25 merely fitting into a lug 26 which replaces lug 14. Projection 12 may be formed with a slot instead of a hole. Wing nuts may be provided instead of ordinary nuts.
