Abstract
432,309. Machines for making wire ropes, cables, &c. PRITCHARD, R. E., 11, Warwick Road, Old Trafford, McALPINE, I. J., Rolvenden, Davyhulme Road, Urmston, and GLOVER & CO., Ltd., W. T., Trafford Park, Manchester, all in Lancashire. May 4, 1934, No. 13531. [Class 109] [See also Group XXII] A roller closing die arrangement for use in the manufacture of stranded conductors and the like comprises a carrier having a number of rolls of which the peripheral surfaces cooperate to form a shaped closing die and in which one of the rolls is made separate from and rotatable upon, a roll shaft which is itself rotatably carried in a support, the portion of the shaft on which the roll is mounted being made eccentric to the portion in the support for the purpose of adjustment. The stranding head is identical in construction with that described in Specification 434,506. The roll shaft 19, upon which the roll 2 freely rotates, has an eccentric portion 50, the throw of which may be arranged vertically or horizontally when the rolls are in the closed position. Adjustment is effected by a spanner on the end of the shaft 54 which turns the shaft 19 through worm gearing 51, 53. A pointer may be used on the worm shaft in conjunction with a scale to give the amount of adjustment.
