Abstract

432,113. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London, DAVIS, N. E., Openways, Little Baddon, Chelmsford, and AINSLEY, F. J., 27, Lower Camden, Chislehurst, Kent. Jan. 20, 1934, No. 2081. [Class 40 (v)] [See also Group X] Short-wave directive aerials of the "folded" kind described in Specifications 242,342, 285,106, and 320,425, [all in Class 40 (v)], are so constructed as to render them selfsupporting and rigid, and capable of being erected on high and narrow sites. Fig. 1 shows three parallel masts 1, 2, 3, which are connected together by triangular braces 17, 18, and "sectionalized" at insulated points 8, 11, 10, 15, 16 &c., so that the aerial currents are confined to the " folded " path shown more clearly in thick lines, at A, B .. J in Fig. 2. The braces and insulators are all located at voltage anodes, so as to minimize current losses. Figs. 3 and 4 show the connections of the triangular braces 17, 18 in detail. A screwed sleeve 24 is slipped over one of the masts and held in position by pins 22, 23. A tubular insulator 19 is then fitted over the sleeve and clamped by nuts 25. The insulator is provided with two tapering arms which fit into the split ends 20 of the bracing-tubes 17<1> and are clamped in position by nuts 21. Further strengthening struts may be provided, as between the points 4 and 11, Fig. 1.
