Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 3, 1934]. Application for addition to 430,727. [Class 103 (i)] The apparatus described in the parent Specification is provided in addition with a centrifugal device 16 which when the speed falls to a predetermined value closes a switch 17 which opens a valve 18 to discharge air from the switch 10 and thus interrupts the circuit of the rail brake magnets 8. Means (not shown) are provided to prevent the discharge of air from the pipe 1 by the action of the switch 17 upon starting the vehicle, for example, it is stated that a relay may be arranged between the valve 18 and the contact end of the line leading to the valve, this relay being actuated by the current exciting the rail brakes, so that if the switch 17 is closed the valve 18 is not energized if this current is switched off. It is stated that with this apparatus the braking effect of the rail brakes is not terminated until the speed has been reduced to a predetermined value while it is possible to test the brakes when the vehicle is stationary.
