[Class 123 (i)] [See also Group XXVI] The jointing between a coke oven or other door 5 and its frame 2 comprises a flexible feather 6-8-10 pressed against the seating 4 of the frame by an elastic body 11 the two elements being lodged within a bracket 14 attached to the door and capable of adjustment by a screw 13 passing through the bracket. The flexible feather consists of toothed members 6 attached to asbestos cord 8 by a backing 10 and the elastic body comprises a continuous helical spring 11. In a modification, the seating 16, Fig. 2, is mounted at a distance from the frame 2 to allow for expansion, and is provided with flat toothed members, the flexible feather consisting of asbestos cord 24 only and the elastic body of an oil-filled tube 23. In a further modification, the flexible feather is constituted by a metal diaphragm 26, Fig. 3, arranged between asbestos sheets 27 and attached to the door, the diaphragm carrying the toothed members 6. Packing material such as asbestos may be filled in the space 17 between the seating 25 and the frame 2. The door is provided with a suspension bracket 35, Fig. 6, ending in a knuckle 36 engaging in a hinge cradle 34 forming part of the door frame. The door is locked in position by means of a transverse bar 37, a screw 38 and a hand wheel 39, the bar fitting into abutments fixed to the frame. A lining of refractory material 43 is supported at the rear side of the door by brackets 41 each provided with a supporting table so as to distribute the load.
