Abstract
429,593. Lubricating - cans. HALLIDAY, W. M., Radcliffe, Temple Rhydding Drive, Baildon, Yorkshire. Oct. 15, 1934, No. 28539. [Class 12 (ii)] [See also Groups XVII and XVIII] A drop-delivering device for attachment to the spout of an oil can &c., comprises a tubular part A the upper end of which is adapted for attachment to the spout, the lower end being threaded externally to receive an adjusting nut F provided with a depending skirt portion. Within the tubular part is slidable the upper portion of an axially bored plunger B the upper end of the bore being closed by a screw E adapted to bear on a shoulder J on the part A and acting as a stop. An aperture H allows the bore to fill with oil when the tubular part is depressed below the normal position shown, in which position relative to the plunger it is retained by a spring D bearing against a stop flange C on the plunger. In use the device is applied to the part to be lubricated and the plunger filled with oil by depressing the tubular part, the quantity of oil admitted depending on the position of the adjusting nut F which is secured in the desired position by means of a clip G adapted to engage one of a pair of slots I formed in the threaded end of the tubular part ; on release of the part A the oil supply is cut off, and on removal of the device the quantity contained in the plunger is deposited.
