Abstract

429,589. Light-current relays. BERNHEIM, G. W., 17, Rue Jean Leclaire, Paris. Sept. 1, 1933, No. 24267. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 13, 1934]. [Class 38 (v)] A sensitive relay, more especially for use in conjunction with photoelectric cells, is provided with means for vibrating the whole of the relay or a part thereof in order to prevent sticking of the relay contacts. The sensitive relay effects control through a second relay which is shortcircuited by the sensitive relay contacts when in the unoperated position, but completes its own maintaining circuit after being operated by operation of the sensitive relay. As shown in the Figure, the sensitive moving coil relay A fed by currents from photo-electric cells is vibrated as a whole or in part by an electromagnet D fed by A.C. Alternatively, a selfinterrupting magnet fed from D.C. may be employed, the vibration produced preventing sticking between the movable contact arm and the relatively fixed contacts a<1>, a<2>. When the former of these is engaged the second relay B is short-circuited, but when the contact a<2> is engaged by sufficient energization of the moving-coil the relay B is energized, completing a maintaining circuit at contact b and a control circuit at contact b<2>. These contacts are opened when the sensitive relay contact again engages contact a<1> and short-circuits the operating coil B. The circuit of a controlled device J is completed at contact b<2> on operation of relay B.
