Abstract

428,420. Bolts. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Nor-Bolt Holding Corporation; 260, Lexington Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) July 7, 1934, No. 20010. [Classes 89 (i) and 89 (ii)] A fastener for use in the attachment of devices to stone, cement, concrete, and like structures adapted to be driven by a longitudinal movement, consists of a cylindrical rod which is split sharply through at least once, generally longitudinally of its length, and in which at least one of the parts separated by such split projects resiliently beyond the general contour of the fastener. The cylindrical member 1 with a head 8 is used to secure a member 7 to a concrete structure in which a hole 5 has been provided. The cylindrical rod is longitudinally split at 4 and the two parts so separated, 2, 3, are expanded outwardly along a diameter so as to project beyond the general contour of the cylinder. These resilient parts are forced in when the fastener is driven into position and, by their engagement with the wall of the whole, hold the part securely. In an alternative construction the parts are moved away from each other radially so as to form an oval shaped gap, and each may be provided externally with serrations 9. In another form the fastener is longitudinally split at 11 and cut across at the top at 12, the one tongue 10 thus formed being displaced. In another form two longitudinal slits are provided, the outer parts 2, 3 are formed radially leaving a central solid portion 13. The lower cylindrical part 6 may be provided with a pointed end or with a neck-like portion 15 which is also split and the parts thereof given a displacement.
